Warlock can gather Darkness Shards

  • Each Darkness Shard gathered grants 33% Dark Dark Power Bonus and 1 All Attributes while active, up to a maximum of 3 shards

  • The effect that consumes the shards also receives the bonus.

You can equip an additional perk every 5 levels.

I noticed that in the tips section it stated that phantomize prevents most form of damage except for aoe spells(and magical effects) and ACTIVE floor spikes. If you activate floor spikes with phantomize active don’t you take damage from them anyway?

I just tested, and phantomize does indeed stop you from activating floor spikes!

Not only that, if phantomize ends while you're standing on a spike trap, you still won't activate the trap until you step off and then back onto it, or something else activates it. Truly game-breaking stuff

Phanotmize stops any traps from activating, but you still get damage from activated traps while being in phantomize form (e.g. running from zombies in phantomize form and stepping on traps activated by them)

I feel like shadow touch is a must run on warlock unless you're going only spell. If you haven't tried out the Kris dagger with shadow touch and bloodstained it's a great combo. It's only 1hp a swing if you're hitting your blows, and the additional 7 magic damage you get on the kris dagger makes a lot bigger difference due to attack speed. Something I'm very curious about and would like to test though (since it could further heighten this combo) is if another warlock hits you with blow of corruption while in demon form. Since the demon form tick damage is defined as negative percent max health healing, and blow of corruption's 80% reduction does effect max health healing in some capacity, would it reduce the drain?

I could see a Warlock duo going no spell, full plate, blow of corruption and demon form. If you hit in hand with blow of corruption, it should only do about ~10-12 damage with plate armor (maybe even less if you use a really bad dagger on super high armor rating), and if the 80% reduction does take effect, it would be (150 average max hp -> 1.75 hp a second over 12 seconds is about 21 damage) but with reduction would only amount to about 4 damage over 12 seconds. To top this all off, if one of the warlocks forego blow of corruption to go lifesteal spell, I think you could easily out-tank a barbarian because life-steal wouldn't be affected by blow of corruptions 80%. I wouldn't necessarily know the stats, but with demon form does warlock have the highest potential armor rating? Finding a way to minimize the health cost could be very strong.

Considering that Ironmace currently strictly follow D&D classes system, i doubt they'll add a separate Necromancer class, but maybe they'll bring new interesting wizard builds with new spells/training system/religions/multiclass etc., which would allow wizards to build into necromancer subclass, just like in D&D

I understand this skill, but it requires a lot of sacrifice. I think this skill needs a different duration because you lose all your life for just 15 seconds. If you don't have a buff duration set, it's impossible to rebuff. I think it's a very bad design.

Maybe try to use it situationally instead of all the time; wait until you have the drop on a rondel buckler pdr fighter and channel before rushing in to one shot them with a bardiche or perhaps perform a full channeled 5 shard dark bolt from across the map on an unsuspecting ranger who is about to loot a lion's head. Maybe you are being pursued by a barbarian and you manage to hit him with an instance of bloodstained blade to deafen him; giving you the chance to drop into a previously darkened pit and channel for a quick dps boost; knowing that if you tried to fight him without it you would have been one-shottable by his double axe whether you were 100% hp or 10%. At least now you can one shot him too...

Warlock rewards creativity, preparation and calculated risk. The buff duration build is highly specific and I believe not really the intended usage for this skill; use your imagination and most of all have fun. And remember, off meta becomes meta in the eternal dance of the battle of the subclasses

Ray of Darkness: Adds at a 1:1 with the 12 per second, so if you have +3 true magic damage, Ray of Darkness will deal 15 damage per second + whatever scaling from Magic Power Bonus on the 12 base damage. For example, if you have 20% MP Bonus & +3 true magic damage, it would deal 1.2 * 12 = 14.4 + 3 = 17.4 magic damage per second.

Flame Walker: Adds at a 1:1 with the 25 per second, so if you have +3 true magic damage, Flame Walker will deal 28 per second (split into 0.2s ticks). So 28 / 5 = 5.6 per tick + whatever scaling from Magic Power Bonus on the 25 base damage. For example if you have 20% MP Bonus & +3 true magic damage, it would deal 1.2 * 25 = 30 + 3 = 33 / 5 = 6.6 damage per tick or 33 per second.

Yes, it heals based on the damage dealt so if you increase the damage dealt with MPB it will heal more.

I used Dark Ray with the casting time increased by about 40%. By default, Dark Ray deals 12 damage per second, so in theory it should kill the Goblin Archer with at least two uses. However, when I used Dark Ray in this state, it took 4.5 uses to kill the Goblin Archer. What is the relationship between Dark Ray, casting time, and damage ratio? It seems strange that increasing the casting time weakens it.

it's been a bit since I messed with it but from what I remember, It does indeed work like this. Usually channels, such as life drain for comparison, Have a set amount of ticks that inflict the amount of damage or healing that is described on the tooltip. Increasing casting speed usually just increases the rate at which these ticks happen (example would be if it is 5 ticks, in 3 seconds, increasing your casting speed by 50% would have it do 5 ticks in 1.5 seconds and provides the damage or healing at a faster rate. Dark ray however, seems to have a set timer on each tick and it cannot be speed up to any faster rate. So yes, increasing casting speed will make the ray a shorter channel but the damage per second will stay exactly the same regardless of how long you are casting. I beleive it's the only channel that functions this way. You are technically doing less damage per cast with faster cast speed however you are inflicting the damage at the same speed regardless. This is why it was such a good pick with demon armor which lowers your cast speed and technically increases the damage per cast, but not the damage per second if that makes sense. My theory is that it works this way because it has incredibly fast ticks (it ticks every .1 seconds according to wiki) so even if it worked similarly to the other channels, it's probably rounding up to .1 which I assume is the fastest tick it will allow) however this should mean that it should scale incredibly well with added damage based of the rules on this wiki site. However the damage does not feel anywhere close to what it should be. Unsure if it's just bugged or it has it's own rules in regards to how it scales.

Anything with a "Type.ActorStatus.Buff.Magic" tag (also has to have a "Type.ActorStatus.Buff.Removable" tag too) , IK this does not help but just think any spell that gives a buff will probably have this tag, think Bless, Divine Strike, Etc.
Maybe we will include tags in the spells page.

Assuming magic power bonus is 0% you would heal 2.4 per tick with your example.

Without any magic healing(MH) you should heal 2 per tick. The current attribute bounus ratio is 10%. A rough estimate for each MH increase the amount healed per tick by 0.1. Example 22 MH would heal for 4.2 per tick. 2 from torture mastery base and 2.2 from current MH

I think it's counted as true healing if it can't be upgraded by both + phys and mag heal. So maybe we might try on mag true dmg and if it doesn't upgrade it so it's fr true mag heal and so it can't be affected by anti heals as they are counted toward mag and phys heals.

So lets say I have a purple staff (10 magic damage), Soul collector fully stacked (60% extra dark magic damage), 40% magical power bonus and +2 magical damage;

The formula would look like this -> (((12 + 10) × (1 + 0.4 + 0.6)) + 2) = 46 damage per second which if it hits for the entire duration is 230 damage in 5 seconds (also keep in mind magic resistance, this is the damage on a target with 0% magic res). On a cleric with base magic resist (14.9%) it would deal around 195.5 total or 39 DPS.

Pretty sure the above is incorrect. Nearly all spells in the game that have a duration get magic damage added to the TOTAL damage over the entire duration. Only exception I think is hellfire and Flame Walker. So the 10 from the staff will instead be 2 added damage PER SECOND in reality. I have not tested this tough.

Reasonable to assume this Skadoosh, but alas, Ray of Darkness is another exception. The reasoning is because the 'over the entire duration' rule exists for Damage over Times. Flamewalker/Hellfire deal tick damage while your in it, rather than applying a simple DoT once. Since it has 100% scaling, it adds that 10 from staff to each tick.

Further clarification from Sur, the added damage is applied to the dps, not the actual ticks. The actual dps is split into .1s ticks. So 12 dps equates to 1.2 per tick. This can be observed when shooting a dummy, because the ticks show up as 1. This means that RoD actually scales rather slowly, with it taking 20 dps to get 2 per tick, 30 for 3, and so on. Another thing to note is that true and add magic damage do not get increased by your magic power.

It is pretty garbage right now. Ironmace said that now that the game is in a fairly balanced stat they're gonna try to tweak the lesser used spells/skills to be stronger, thats why they buffed Ray of Darkness and Bloodstained Blade. It might be on their radar for a buff soon. I'd like to see a longer duration and faster movespeed on the Evil Eye if nothing else, you can barely scout ahead with it in it's current state.

If im reading this right you can get 40% bonus damage through perks for bolt of darkness. If it scales 100% and you get 24% by default then you can open with 164% bonus on your first BoD after collecting 6 souls. And if i have 20 bonus magic damage the. Im hitting for 57. Is this right? I believe the way it works is: Each spell has a base amount of damage (such as Bolt of Darkness doing 15). The Magical Damage stat you see on Spellbooks, Magical Staff', and Crystal Balls, are added to the base damage of the spell you cast. I.E. Bolt of Darkness with the warlocks starting gray Staff will do 20 base damage. That damage will then be multiplied by Magic Power Bonus (the 164% in your example). Additional Magic Damage that you get on gear is not multiplied by you MPB, it is just added on at the end (although it should still be effected by headshot multiplier of 1.5), so the Bolt would do:

(((20base × 1.64) + 20 Additional damage) × body multiplier)

It should. Soul Collector gives "MagicalDarkDamageMod" buff when it is active and lasts until a spell is cast. It should both scale and also not consume the souls.

You can deduct from the phrasing that the bonus lasts until the next DM spell is casted, so it grants that bonus to any Reflects before you cast a DM spell. And like you said, Reflect isnt a spell so it won’t remove the stacks either. I clarified this at the end of the description recently to help, thanks for the feedback

Welcome to the game!

BoC is "evil magic damage", whatever the hell that is, but not dark magic, so does not synergize with Soul Collector.

Dark Reflection is on cooldown when you get hit, presumably from melee-only.

Vampirism amplifies "all magical healing", which includes Torture Mastery.

Power of Sacrifice is a high-risk, high-reward spell (in PvP), but a low/moderate risk, high reward DoT/heal in PvE. Since Power of Sacrifice does 0 upfront damage, you can cast it on multiple low-HP enemies like mummy spiders to heal a great deal (where Curse of Pain may otherwise kill them). In my opinion, the damage is far too great to use on yourself or an ally (36 damage over 12 sec without Curse Mastery, 45 damage over 15 sec with Curse Mastery, ouch!), for just ~15% bonus damage (on average).

One notable exception: Cleric's with Perseverance perk, reduces damage, so they only take 1 damage per second, so you can Curse them to power them up without a massive cost.

Blow of Destruction is super good. A little magic damage and a falchion can go a long way with it. Phatomize is great for mob management/gathering if you get overwhelmed. I would think in the end Falchion/Orb with spells would be better but its been fun so far.

As a ranger, im here just to find out how to fight against it. I couldnt tell you how much this ability alone has shut me down, no other class punishes me more than a warlock with phantomize, to either escape OR close the gap while taking no damage having the 10% speed increase to get on the ranger and start swinging melee damage and ripping spells. Every time it happens to me i die, cant fight it AND cant sheathe up and run from it. It hard for ranger as the first thing i wanna do is either hit you first or run if i need to make distance, I cant do either of those. Havent tested if i can trap while they are in that form yet, but thats timing, luck, precision all need to be in my favour when the next phantomized warlock comes through a door and i have to shoot 3 arrows in the head the second they come outta form or im typically dead in 2-3 hits

they take an extra 50% dmg from magic dmg when they use phantomize, this is just theory crafting but I bet a molotovs would decimate them pretty quick
