Rarity

Weapons can improve and become stronger as their rarity level increases. A weapon's rarity typically reflects its level of power, with higher rarity weapons providing more damage output and other attributes that can enhance the player's performance in combat.

There are 7 rarities in the game.

Poor | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Legendary | Unique

Uncommon rarity adds up to 1 new enchantment.

Rare rarity adds up to 2 new enchantments.

Epic rarity adds up to 3 new enchantments.

Legendary rarity adds up to 4 new enchantments.

Unique rarity adds 5 enchantments and may add a special effect varying based on weapon. A list of these effects can be found at Artifacts

Stat Randomization

Not only are the enchantments a gear piece is imbued with randomized, but some of it's base stats are also randomized.

In general, only the damage values on weapons and the armor rating on armors are variable.

As such, 2 gear pieces of the same rarity can have different base stats.

There are some exceptions like the Lightfoot Boots, these also have randomized movement speed values based on rarity.

For example, a Epic rarity Armet can have a 36 ~ 38 Armor Rating, which means that stat can roll between 36 to 38.

Movement Multiplier Explanation

Movement Multipliers, also referred to as Action Movement Penalty, are any multipliers that affect movement after the penalty for holding the weapon is subtracted.

If a weapon has -30 Move Speed Add and a 70% Movement Multiplier, the -30 is subtracted before the 70% is applied. For example, from the 300 base Move Speed, holding this weapon results in 270 Move Speed, and swinging with it results in 189 Move Speed.

Many weapon attacks (used to be exclusively Two-handers) have an increased slow during the actual "Attack" portion of the attack, while the "Windup", "Recover", and "Finish" portions use the traditional, and greater, Movement Multiplier.

For example, while swinging the following weapon with -30 Move Speed while holding

Assuming base 300 Move Speed.

  • Holding the weapon: 300 - 30 = 270
  • Blocking with the weapon: 270 * .65 = 175.5
  • During the "Hit" part of the swing animation: 270 * .70 = 189
  • During the "Windup", "Second Windup", "Recover", "Alternate Recover", and "Finish" swing animations (also referred to as "Otherwise" in the above reference image): 270 * .85 = 229.5

Weapon Properties

Some weapons also have special properties, for example, the Castillon Dagger's and the Stiletto Dagger's 3rd hit deals 30% and 20% more damage.

The "Combo" column reflects a weapon's attack type in game files and sometimes they don't match to its attack animation.

As for the "Weapon Hitbox" column, weapon's length doesn't necessarily determine a weapon's reach. How the weapon is hold, different attack animations affects weapon's reach. Thus, some shorter weapons have better reach than longer weapons.

Slash/Blunt/Pierce damage types do nothing at the moment

Impact Zones

Most melee weapons operate on a impact zones system, meaning hitting an enemy with the tip of the weapon will deal the most damage and hitting further down on the blade/haft will deal less damage. The number of impact zones vary between weapons.

Lets look at impact zones of Arming Sword:

Green Zone deals 100% damage

Orange Zone deals 90% damage

Red Zone deals 70% damage

As Swords overall balanced weapons and are less punished by the impact zones, weapons like Spear are affected a lot more.

Note: When an off-hand shield is held without a main-hand weapon, you can punch, but only the first attack in the usual 2-attack combo will be available. When Blood Pact is active, you can still use the full 4-attack combo. You cannot punch this way with any other off-hand weapons.

After finishing casting/channeling a spell (scaled by Casting Speed), the casting animation, also referred to as the "release", starts before turning to a "recovery" animation, similar to physical weapon swings. The release and recovery are affected by Action Speed, NOT casting speed.

The release + recovery animation is exactly:

  • Spellbook: 1s
  • Crystal ball: 1.1s
  • Crystal sword: 1.9s
  • Magic Staff: 1.6s

The release portion on its own was measured in game to be (+/- 50ms of ping):

  • Spellbook: .466s
  • Crystal Ball: .483s
  • Crystal Sword: .983s
  • Magic Staff: .650s

I see there are 3 different numbers for impact zones on Magic Staff, 100%/80%/60%(green/orange/red I'm assuming), but I'm only seeing green and orange zones under the Hitbox illustration for it

While the third number exists in files, it is not used as the weapon doesn't have a corresponding hitbox area. Magic Staff only uses the first two impact zones.

I came here to see what the HitSlow for Short Sword is and noticed that it, plus several other weapons(not refering to things like crystal ball obv), are not showing anything. Is this because they dont have any HitSlow or just missing info? ty.

assuming you hold down left click with an arming sword for just 2 attacks, would you have to add the 376ms of the second attack into the recover phase or ignore it altogether? would the total be 2.204 seconds or 1.828?

The old combo stat combined "Combo Activation" and the subsequent "Windup" into one value. We split it for clarity since the period where you can activate a combo varies a lot.

I can't confidently say one way or another based on intuition and game feel alone. This exact question remains to be tested and I've been too busy.

If someone else is interested and willing, it would be sufficient to continuously repeat a combo 10+ times and time it, then repeat without continuously holding the attack button. If there's a time discrepancy, then that means the combo activation period is dynamic and can end early.

Rondel Dagger is the perfect weapon for this test since attacks 2 and 3 allow you to chain a combo indefinitely.

We would love to include this but the table had more important information to include, so we had to move it to individual weapon pages i.e. /Arming_Sword. Recall that Range only refers to the hitbox dimensions, the attack animation is the biggest factor for the "effective range" anyways

I see people using Hand Crossbows similarly to get the armor pen bonus, so I was assuming it worked for either weapon but what im not sure about is whether you can stack them? ex Flanged Mace / Short Sword on a fighter. Would you get BOTH 15% Undead Damage Bonus, if so is it calculated *!5% -> *15%bonus or *30%bonus. tyx for any help

It shows how big the weapon is, but not the range. The magic staff for example has almost no range, crystal sword has bigger range. But thats not shown here.

No, the item rarity only dictates how many enchantments a gear piece can have. The value ranges are the same for every tier. So a green helmet can have +2 all attributes and the same helmet at purple tier can have +1all attributes.

Hey this might be obvious to some players, but I'm sure there are plenty of us who have no idea what this means. It sounds like maybe hitting with the hilt/handle instead of blade of axe or whatever. Or is it the place in the arc where you hit connects? Like on an overhead attack you pull back, swing over your head (first part) then you arc past the eyeline or chest height (Or more likely this is still part of the first "sweet spot") and maybe you have a back swing or a follow through to say the ground that could count as a lesser hit (So the sour spot?)? Some have 2 %s and some have 3. And they all seem to be better early.

Most melee weapons operate on a Sweet/Sour Spot system, meaning hitting an enemy with the tip of the weapon will deal the most damage and hitting further down on the blade/haft will deal less damage. The number of sour spots vary between weapons.

Closer you are, worse the long range weapons become. This can affect Polearms badly. On the other hand, daggers always do their 100% damage.
