it's been a bit since I messed with it but from what I remember, It does indeed work like this. Usually channels, such as life drain for comparison, Have a set amount of ticks that inflict the amount of damage or healing that is described on the tooltip. Increasing casting speed usually just increases the rate at which these ticks happen (example would be if it is 5 ticks, in 3 seconds, increasing your casting speed by 50% would have it do 5 ticks in 1.5 seconds and provides the damage or healing at a faster rate. Dark ray however, seems to have a set timer on each tick and it cannot be speed up to any faster rate. So yes, increasing casting speed will make the ray a shorter channel but the damage per second will stay exactly the same regardless of how long you are casting. I beleive it's the only channel that functions this way. You are technically doing less damage per cast with faster cast speed however you are inflicting the damage at the same speed regardless. This is why it was such a good pick with demon armor which lowers your cast speed and technically increases the damage per cast, but not the damage per second if that makes sense. My theory is that it works this way because it has incredibly fast ticks (it ticks every .1 seconds according to wiki) so even if it worked similarly to the other channels, it's probably rounding up to .1 which I assume is the fastest tick it will allow) however this should mean that it should scale incredibly well with added damage based of the rules on this wiki site. However the damage does not feel anywhere close to what it should be. Unsure if it's just bugged or it has it's own rules in regards to how it scales.Ray of Darkness and Spell Casting SpeedanonymousMay 4, 2024 at 2:28 pmWarlock

I used Dark Ray with the casting time increased by about 40%. By default, Dark Ray deals 12 damage per second, so in theory it should kill the Goblin Archer with at least two uses. However, when I used Dark Ray in this state, it took 4.5 uses to kill the Goblin Archer. What is the relationship between Dark Ray, casting time, and damage ratio? It seems strange that increasing the casting time weakens it.Ray of Darkness and Spell Casting SpeedanonymousApr 28, 2024 at 9:02 pmWarlock
I know the chart says 100% scaling from MPB but what is that exactly?. Theres no way MPB is directly applied at the % of MPB or i would heal for 59 hp the 13 from gear and 5 from advanced. sois it only affeting my total healing at an additional 59% ie (13 gear +5 advanced) 59%) What is the caling of MPB on cleric healing?anonymousApr 28, 2024 at 8:46 pmHealing
If your asking if enemy magic resist can block the poison damage then yes. However due to the damage being rounded, and poison damage ticks being so low, it would be hard to reduce it by any significant amount. Because each stack would have it's own formula. Since rogue poison's base is 1 damage per second, if you have 5 stacks, it will never reduce below 5 damage per second since each stack of 1 damage per second will always round to 1 damage at the lowest. Damage over time also only receives 50% bonus ratio to it's scaling and it does not scale per tick, it's per total damage dealt overtime and rogues poison being only 4 seconds means that the 4 damage over time total is hard to increase significantly with any percentage scaling (however this means additional and true damage would scale it much nicer). So overall it's pretty hard to increase the amount of damage per poison tick to a significant enough number where magic resist would be able to effectively stop it. So it does defend against it, just not very well due to the way poison stacks rather then being counted as 1 buff. Also in general nobody really builds magic resist except warlocks who don't have multi class lol.Poisoned Weapon & Magic ResistanonymousApr 27, 2024 at 10:33 pmStats
It seems Smite and Faithfulness doesn't work together. Smite is now "magical damage", so neutral not divine anymoreNew Faithfulness & SmiteanonymousApr 27, 2024 at 10:25 pmCleric
Yes smite and faithfulness interact. any native magic damage on cleric is divine damage. 'divine strike' is the spell that adds 5 weapon damage so it does not interact with faithfulness but 'holy strike' the aoe spell does - Just to note earthquake is not divine magic damageNew Faithfulness & SmiteDanJonJrDanJonJrApr 27, 2024 at 7:58 pmApr 27, 2024 at 7:59 pmCleric
