Description

Rangers in Dark and Darker are wilderness experts, who use their knowledge of nature and keen senses to track down and eliminate their enemies. They are skilled hunters and trappers, able to set deadly traps and ambushes. Rangers are adept at ranged combat, relying on their skills of archery and markmanship to deal most of their damage. Bows and arrows, crossbows and bolts are the favoured weapons of the Ranger. They rely on swords for close range engagements, with the option to equip a spear as well.

Class Info

Weapon of choice: Any long-ranged weapons, some swords and spears.

  • Pros
    • High ranged damage output, allowing them to threaten angles effectively and deal significant damage from the backline.
    • Able to set bear traps to lock down enemies in place.
    • Great room clearing and PvE ability without putting themselves at risk.
    • High movement speed and interaction speed, allowing them to pick their fights.
    • High burst healing with the Field Ration skill.
    • Able to track fresh enemy footprints via the Tracking perk, effectively nullifying Invisibility.
  • Cons
    • Limited ammo pool requiring frequent reloads, arrow management and the sacrifice of a non-insignificant amount of inventory space.
    • Very weak at close range, few melee weapon options and no special melee skills.
    • Low health pool with limited armour options.
    • Costly to play, as arrows, bolts and bear traps are essential to most Ranger playstyles.
    • Projectiles can be blocked by shields and dodged more easily than melee attacks.

You can equip an additional perk every 5 levels. Currently maxed out at Level 15, so a total of 4 perks can be equipped.

This class is a lot of fun the abilities are a bit boring but the way you play the class is so fun. I use Sharpshooter, Nimble Hands, Kinesthesia and Chase but this can be changed to quick reload.

backstep
anonymous | Posted on Sep 25, 2024 at 9:44 pm

does backstep also scale with action speed?

dont play it
anonymous | Posted on Sep 24, 2024 at 6:01 pm

literally dont play the class , it receives constant nerfs , just go fighter if you want to bow , he is better at that + he always get buffed for no reason

Yeah I really wanted to enjoy Ranger but I'm finding the PVP impossible with him, at least in solos. His traps are OP but I think it's ridiculous that you have to rely on them. The only people I see actually doing damage with Ranger are pro streamer sweatlords. To me it feels like Ranger requires more skill than most classes, at least if you're not just cheesing people into traps. His skills and abilities need a rework. He's overall just not fun to play.

致殘射擊

致殘射擊的緩速會加上本身弓的緩速嗎?

Crippling Shot
anonymous | Posted on Apr 2, 2024 at 10:24 pm

Does this apply to arrows and bolts only? Can I melee people's legs to slow them?

Chaoticlaw | Posted on Apr 5, 2024 at 11:27 pm

Shots only, tested a few times and found no effect when using melee.

anonymous | Posted on Oct 22, 2023 at 9:51 pm

No Crossbows are a different category thus not affected by quick reload.

Penetrating Shot
anonymous | Posted on Sep 22, 2023 at 3:36 am

I assume it's supposed to be only for ranged weapons, but this nor the game's description says that it has to be.

anonymous | Posted on Oct 11, 2024 at 4:46 pm

tested it on armored dummy, no effect on melee weapon.

Sharp-Shooter weapons applicable
anonymous | Posted on Sep 21, 2023 at 4:50 am

What is considered a long range weapon for this perk? Do crossbows, or recurve bows play into this category or is this just a perk for longbows?

anonymous | Posted on Sep 21, 2023 at 5:04 am

I just tested the recurve bow. The perk did increase the headshot damage! So as I understand long-range would be considered any bow.

anonymous | Posted on Sep 23, 2023 at 12:35 pm

I assume any main ranged weapon and not a thrown weapon like the knives or the firebottle
