High-Roller Ranks and Adventure Points

Ranks

Ranks are only for the High-Roller dungeons which now have a 0 gold ante but instead have an Adventure Point (AP) ante. Dark and Darker currently has 7 rank categories with a total of 19 individual ranks that players can achieve. Each rank causes an increase in AP to enter the High roll dungeons.

Adventure Points

There are 9 different sources of Adventure Points (AP) to advance your rank in the High-Roller dungeons. Each entrance of the dungeon cost varying amounts of AP as seen above, even if you perish. Failing to extract from the dungeon will remove all AP gains, and still pay the AP ante.

Monster Kill

See Monsters for AP rewards for each Monster.

Props Interaction

Note: Opening props grant AP only the first time they are opened. This includes repeatable props such as ore nodes, treasure horde, and shrines. Breakables such as crates, barrels, and pots do not count as prop interaction nor do they give AP.

  • Blue Portal: 10 AP per portal
  • Red Portal: 30 AP per portal
  • Oak Chest (Any Size): 1 AP
  • Reinforced Chest (Any Size): 1 AP
  • Doors: 0 AP
  • Light Fixtures: 0 AP
  • Levers: 0 AP
  • Shrines (Any Type): 5 AP
  • Iron Ore: 5 AP (only counts once per node)
  • Copper Ore: 10 AP (only counts once per node)
  • Cobalt Ore: 5 AP (only counts once per node)
  • Rubysilver Ore: ?? AP (only counts once per node)
  • Gold Ore: 10 AP (only counts once per node)
  • Stone Tomb: 4 AP
  • Old Skeleton Corpse: 1 AP
  • Disabling Trap: ?? AP

High-End Props Interaction

  • Bronze Ornate Chest: 5 AP
  • Royal Coffin: 10 AP
  • Lion's Head Chest: 12 AP
  • Golden Chest: 20 AP
  • Treasure Horde: ?? AP (only counts for first interaction per Horde)

Player Kill

  • Ranges from 9.9 to 188.1 AP per kill
  • AP varies based on the number of divisions between you and the player.
  • AP = 14.85 * Divisions below target + 99
  • Divisions below target ranges from -6 to 6, as if you are 6 divisions above the target (Demigod killing a Neophyte), the value is -6.

Sub Boss Kill

Each of these Monsters also reward AP in the Monster Kill section.

Monster name: Normal AP Elite AP Nightmare AP
Cockatrice 5 N/A N/A
Demon berserker 30 15 30
Demon centaur 15 30 N/A
Giant centipede 10 20 N/A
Giant worm 10 20 N/A
Golem 15 N/A N/A
Skeleton champion 8 25 N/A
Wraith 10 25 N/A

Boss Kill

Each of these Monsters also reward AP in the Monster Kill section.

  • Crypts' Boss 125 AP
  • Goblin Cave's Boss 90 AP

Item Achieve

  • AP is rewarded for extracting with items that have the Looted tag. See here for more information on the Looted and Handled tag.
  • Craftable items cannot reward AP as they cannot be found as Looted, only Handled.
  • The amount of AP rewarded is independent of the quantity in the stack. For example, a 1x Candy rewards the same amount of AP as 10x Candy if they are in the same stack. As such, splitting the stack will reward more AP.
  • AP is calculated on extraction
  • Weapons and Armor give 1 AP per 1 gold they sell for
    • Which is 1 | 2 | 3 | 6 | 10 | 20 | 30 AP, multiplied by the number of slots the item takes up
  • Accessories and Misc (like Treasures, Gems, Hunting Loot like Kobold Ears, Mimic Tongue's, etc) reward AP equal to their rarity (not multiplied by slot size), where Junk through Unique rewards 0-7 AP
    • Junk is equivalent to rarity 0 and therefore gives 0 AP
    • Unique is equivalent to rarity 7 and therefore gives 7 AP
    • Treasures give even more AP as they are also in the Treasure section
  • There are some items that do not follow the previously mentioned criteria, where their AP is listed below (these are not multiplied by slot size)

Treasure

  • AP granted is equal to the gold worth of the Treasure in your inventory upon extraction
  • Candy from Valentine counts as Treasure
  • The amount of AP rewarded is independent from the quantity in the stack. For example, a 1x Candy rewards the same amount of AP as 10x Candy if they are in the same stack. As such, splitting the stack will reward more AP. Few treasure items can be stacked, however.

Dungeon Down

Assists

Player, Monster, Sub-Boss, and Boss kills also have an Assist category. While in a group, all AP gained from these kills are split evenly among team members. For whoever got the kill, the AP goes to the Kill category, while for everyone else in the group -regardless of contribution- it goes under the Kill Assist category.

The AP is split for each individual kill, and then rounded down and granted to everyone else in the party as an Assist. The remaining AP is rewarded as a Kill to whomever landed the killing blow.

Formula

Assist AP (per kill) = floor(AP / Party Size)
Kill AP (per kill) = AP - (Party Size - 1) * Assist AP

Example

Party size of 3 after killing 2 normal Skeleton Axemen which reward 5 AP each.

Assist AP (per kill) = floor(5/3) = 1
Kill AP (per kill) = 5 - (3-1) * 1 = 3

Since there two kills, each assisting player receives 2 AP, and the player that got the killing blow receives 6 AP. Note that this sums to 10 AP, from 5 AP per kill x 2 kills.

Treasure ap value for season 5?
jose peralta | Posted on Feb 12, 2025 at 3:40 am

Which category does treasure fall under? Weapons, armor, and accessories or utilities and misc?

Raw Salad | Posted on Feb 16, 2025 at 10:30 pm

It falls under Misc

jose peralta | Posted on Feb 26, 2025 at 12:39 am

Oh okay ty, so treasures are about double the value of gear

When can I get rank scores?
anonymous | Posted on Sep 21, 2024 at 7:02 pm

I did the rank, but the scoreboard didn't come out.

Do all the items in the inventory are gone when the season ends?
anonymous | Posted on Aug 26, 2024 at 6:05 am

t

Raw Salad | Posted on Oct 5, 2024 at 3:07 am

No. When the season ends, that simply halts the leaderboard. You cannot gain or lose AP after the seasons ends.

Items in inventory disappear with Wipes, which are a different thing than the Seasons.

if we get the race on one character does it transfer too all
anonymous | Posted on Aug 22, 2024 at 10:45 pm

anonymous | Posted on Aug 23, 2024 at 7:30 am

yes as long as you hold onto that character and do not delete him

Multiple Rewards for Solos, Duos, Trios, ect?
James | Posted on Aug 22, 2024 at 3:58 pm

If I am ranked wanderer in Solos, Duos, and Trios, will I get 3 claimable gold coin bags at the start of next season?

anonymous | Posted on Aug 23, 2024 at 7:32 am

yes

anonymous | Posted on Aug 27, 2024 at 2:25 am

no, but on different characters each reaching wanderer will grant the rewards

"First Time" Activation
anonymous | Posted on Aug 14, 2024 at 10:54 am

Does interacting with a prop that somebody else already activated reward AP or does "first time" apply to every player in the map and not individual players?

Brecher | Posted on Aug 17, 2024 at 11:07 pm

Only the first successful interaction awards AP, XP and quest progress. Other players who interact afterwards will not get any of those.

Solo/Duo/Trio Ranks
anonymous | Posted on Aug 10, 2024 at 5:54 pm

If we reach wanderer in all three categoies do we get 3 gold coin bags? Or does it just go off our highest rank?

anonymous | Posted on Aug 18, 2024 at 8:41 am

No, it doesn't matter and you can only receive one reward per character.

AP for buffing and debuffing
anonymous | Posted on Aug 8, 2024 at 8:25 pm

Do we get assist from buffing team and debuffing monsters and players ?

Raw Salad | Posted on Aug 10, 2024 at 1:05 am

Your action is irrelevant to receiving AP.

While in a group, all AP gained from these kills are split evenly among team members. For whoever got the kill, the AP goes to the Kill category, while for everyone else in the group -regardless of contribution- it goes under the Kill Assist category.

Rank required?
anonymous | Posted on Aug 7, 2024 at 8:59 pm

To earn a reward, do you need to hit rank 1 of a title or is having rank 3 enough to get the reward for that tier?

Raw Salad | Posted on Aug 10, 2024 at 1:03 am

Having rank 3 is enough.

For real, what is more efficient? Treasure or Gear?
anonymous | Posted on Aug 6, 2024 at 12:11 am

This wiki states gear gives AP = gold when sold to merchant. Thus a 4 slot purple item would give 40 AP (10 gold/slot for rarity times 4) and it states treasure gives 1 AP per rarity.

People keep saying 1 slot treasures are most efficient for AP gain, but this makes it sound like gear would be better. Can someone PLEASE clarify this as I am getting such drastically contrasting info.

Sur | Posted on Aug 6, 2024 at 6:26 pm

Clarified this just now in both #Treasure and #item_Achieve sections after Onepeg's video. The quantity in the end of game report is incorrect, AP given is correct (and doesn't need to be split to individual stacks)

Season Rewards
anonymous | Posted on Aug 3, 2024 at 6:07 pm

If I reach Wanderer with multiple characters or solo, duo or trio ranks, will I get multiple gold coin bags in the next season?

Sur | Posted on Aug 6, 2024 at 6:30 pm

added to #Rewards section now, yes its per-character

Dungeon Portals and Escape Portal AP
anonymous | Posted on May 30, 2024 at 5:08 am

opening multiple Dungeon Portals or Escape Portal gives multiple x15 AP or only once

anonymous | Posted on May 30, 2024 at 6:37 am

I heard this was getting nerfed, but not sure if it was by reducing overall AP value per or by giving reduced amount after first of each type of Portal

Sur | Posted on Aug 6, 2024 at 6:30 pm

Its per-prop. The AP amount is subject to change, though should be up to date as of now

Is this still up to date? 5/23/24

instruments
anonymous | Posted on Feb 17, 2024 at 1:01 am

Do instruments give rank points?

anonymous | Posted on Feb 24, 2024 at 6:48 pm

Instruments give the same amount of AP as gold that you would recieve selling it to a merchant

anonymous | Posted on May 30, 2024 at 5:48 am

Tip, now that anyone can equip instruments, you can throw any into open slots/trade them out with a smaller slot size item to make room as youre getting ready to extract or progressively as you see fit (might want some/all slots available during the majority of the adventure)

anonymous | Posted on May 30, 2024 at 6:30 am

Also, forgot to mention, Instrument vendor prices were not reduced like other gear prices were this previous time. Because of this, ATM at least, instruments are worth more AP per slot than gear (only applies to Common quality and higher)(ex. Uncommon boots vendor:12g Uncommon Drum vendor: 20g / Common boots:8g Common Drum: 12g)

anonymous | Posted on May 30, 2024 at 6:34 am

Uncommon Drum Ap is equal to OR more (per slot) than any (non gem) Common 1x1 slot treasure as a comparison

anonymous | Posted on Jul 29, 2024 at 12:37 pm

wrong, only instrument in the inventory would bring aps, with them on the slots, no

50 golds
anonymous | Posted on Feb 5, 2024 at 1:39 am

Do I get 50 AP if I get 5 golds in a game and put them in my money bag?

anonymous | Posted on Feb 15, 2024 at 7:49 am

You don't. Silver and gold coins to not count towards AP

anonymous | Posted on Feb 20, 2024 at 2:12 am

I think gold counts just as long as it's not in the coin pouch because it would be considered "handled". Out of coin pouch should be fine to count towards AP tho.

anonymous | Posted on May 30, 2024 at 5:46 am

A few posts down someone asked, "Does extracting with Gold and Silver coins give AP?" the 2 replies are conflicting.... "Yes for gold, if u extract 50 gold u get 50 points. 1 gold per so point" and "Gold and silver coins give 0AP, Gold coins that get placed into a bag also become handled and handled items don't give AP either" can we get some fact checks? :p

Hiimray | Posted on Jul 21, 2024 at 3:00 pm

I did a small test: I extracted with only gold coins looted.

1st run, I looted 43 gold coins all in a single pouch, and nothing else. Result: Item Achieve and Treasure #/AP were all 0.

2nd run, I looted 26 gold coins - 2 stacks of 10, plus 1 stack of 6. Result: Item Achieve AP, Treasure #, and Treasure AP were all 0, but Item Achieve # was 3 - the same number of slots the coins took up.

3rd run, I looted 50 gold coins - I split them into 50 stacks of 1. Result: Item Achieve AP, Treasure #, and Treasure AP were all 0, but Item Achieve # was 50 - again, the same number of slots the coins took up.

4th run, I looted 62 gold coins - 49 stacks of 1 plus 13 in a single pouch. Result: Item Achieve AP, Treasure #, and Treasure AP were all 0.

Conclusion: Regardless of stack size, Looted gold coins award (probably 0, but definitely) less than 1 AP per 50 coins. So if you're looking to maximize AP gains, don't take in pouches and ignore gold coins entirely. If you care about Item Achieve # for some reason, each stack of Looted gold coins counts once per stack regardless of stack size for Item Achieve #. Gold coins stored in a pouch don't count even if you take them out later.

Hiimray | Posted on Jul 21, 2024 at 3:04 pm

A moment of silence for my AP, and a moment of fuck you to all the assholes who killed me despite me just minding my own goddamn business during the entire process. Shoutout to the guys who memed with me instead.

Hiimray | Posted on Jul 21, 2024 at 3:26 pm

And another quick test for silver coins: I extracted with only silver coins looted - one stack of 30 and one stack of 17. Result matches the gold coins result: 0 for Item Achieve AP, Treasure #, and Treasure AP, and 2 for Item Achieve #.

Rank rewards
anonymous | Posted on Feb 1, 2024 at 8:53 pm

They added new rewards for Voyager, Exemplar and Demigod ranks, anyone knows if they are shared with other characters or are just unlocked for just the one who unlocked them? (sry for my broken Eng)

anonymous | Posted on Feb 2, 2024 at 12:11 pm

Yes it is for the account

Gold and Silver
anonymous | Posted on Jan 15, 2024 at 2:50 pm

Does extracting with Gold and Silver coins give AP?

anonymous | Posted on Feb 2, 2024 at 12:12 pm

Yes for gold, if u extract 50 gold u get 50 points. 1 gold per so point

Finglay | Posted on Feb 4, 2024 at 5:08 pm

Gold and silver coins give 0AP, Gold coins that get placed into a bag also become handled and handled items don't give AP either

Barbarian Smash
anonymous | Posted on Jan 15, 2024 at 11:27 am

Do it count if u smash a chest instand of opening it?

Finglay | Posted on Feb 4, 2024 at 4:45 pm

When using crusher perk or hellfire to break chests, you will not receive any AP that would be given for opening the chest

anonymous | Posted on Aug 3, 2024 at 10:58 pm

This is incorrect. You do gain AP when breaking treasure chests, whether with crush, fireball, hellfire, etc.

seasonal rewrds
anonymous | Posted on Dec 1, 2023 at 5:14 pm

do you get rewards for your highest rank achieved in the season or the rank that you hold at the end of the season... can someone tell me please? :)

anonymous | Posted on Dec 2, 2023 at 1:20 pm

There is currently no information about rewards past pathfinder. I have checked with a streamer who’s demigod, and they do not show what the “?” rewards are once that rank is achieved.

anonymous | Posted on Dec 19, 2023 at 3:29 pm

I believe it said somewhere that it is your final rank at the end of the season that determines what rewards you receive.

Matchmaking
anonymous | Posted on Nov 29, 2023 at 3:00 pm

Im a bit confused. Does this imply that matchmaking exists? As a pathfinder will i only be matched with similar ranks?

Sur | Posted on Nov 30, 2023 at 1:14 am

We do know there is matchmaking, but we don't know if its by Adventure Rank or not.

anonymous | Posted on Jan 16, 2024 at 8:07 pm

My whole team is pathfinder and we got matched with a guy who was 19th on leaderboards. His teammates were also pathfinder so maybe it averages it out? Higher lobbies have been feeling more empty and I feel like there is a gear average factor but that's just a guess. Also pretty sure that matchmaking in casual was implemented last wipe.

Treasure and AP
anonymous | Posted on Nov 27, 2023 at 2:58 am

Must you extract with treasure to get AP from it, or should I be putting every item in my inventory and dropping it?

Finglay | Posted on Nov 27, 2023 at 10:08 am

You must extract with the treasure in your inventory. Im currently working on a document to figure out the exact AP value of every treasure. Once this is finished i will upload the document on this wiki page.

Sur | Posted on Nov 27, 2023 at 5:14 pm

AP per actions
anonymous | Posted on Nov 26, 2023 at 1:15 am

Is there a list anywhere of how much AP each action gives?

Finglay | Posted on Nov 26, 2023 at 3:30 pm

I am currently working on one. Once it is a bit more full I will attach it to this page. Hopefully it shouldn't be too long.

anonymous | Posted on Nov 26, 2023 at 7:22 pm

Do you need to maintain Pathfinder to get the reward, or just hit it once?

Finglay | Posted on Nov 26, 2023 at 8:39 pm

I believe you have to maintain it

anonymous | Posted on Dec 2, 2023 at 1:18 pm

Per the in game ranks screen, it says “End of season title” meaning whatever rank you are at the end of the season.

anonymous | Posted on May 30, 2024 at 5:06 am

opening multiple Dungeon Portals or Escape Portal gives multiple x15 AP or only once
