Cardboard: armour and weapons: removed ] from 'rondel dagger' hyperlink

Battle Wizard(Alpha 3.0)
Battle Mage has a play style that is very different than other ones. You will need very specific perks and gear for it to work.

Armor and Weapon
As a starter you do not need anything fancy and you can do this build with a little bit of gold. First of all you will need a Crystal Ball and Rondel Dagger which are purchasable through Alchemist and Weaponsmith respectively.

Perks and Skills
As a standard we are going to be picking Meditation for regenerating our spells and Spell Memory to cast those spells. When it comes to perks we have Arcane Mastery, Quick Chant, Ice Shield, and last spot is flexible but I recommend Reactive Shield for a little bit more defense. Make sure to use your Meditation in spots where you will not be spotted!

Spells
We are going to be taking Magic Missile, Ignite, Haste, Invisibility, and Fire ball if you ever end up finding more spell capacity. Note that you can interchange fireball and magic missile depending on your preferences. I chose magic missile since it synergizes well with ignite.

Play Style
It is extremely important that you gather information about the opposing team. If you are solo you need to play in and out style like a rogue. However, if you have team mates you can go in take one and leave causing disruption while your team pushes in. Your main weakness will be close range high damage dealing classes like Rogues and Barbarians.

As an engage you need to use Haste -> Ignite -> Invisibility and sneak to their backline and hopefully pickup a cleric, mage or a ranger kill. Then quickly cast another invisibility to flea to safety or continue attacking their backline depending on their team composition.

When it comes to dealing with enemy mini bosses you can use Ignite + Magic Missile combo to deal a lot of damage.

You can also play as a support mage buffing your team mates with Ignite and Haste.

Controls
Leveling
In Dark and Darker, players can level up by completing various actions such as killing enemies, opening chests, using shrines, and surviving the map. Leveling up is crucial as it unlocks the trade market at level 10 and grants access to the High Roller map at level 15, where the loot and enemies are more challenging. Additionally, leveling up unlocks perks for each character at levels 5, 10, and 15, which enhance their abilities. For more detailed information, refer to the Experience Point page.

Resting and Recoverable Health
In Dark and Darker, players can rest by default by pressing the "G" key, causing their character to sit on the ground. Sitting next to a Campfire will allow the player to regenerate their health and spells. Additionally, players can rest if they have taken damage and have some recoverable health, but cancelling the resting action will cause them to instantly lose their recoverable health. While resting, players recover health at a rate of 1 HP per 2 seconds. However, it is important to note that players are extremely vulnerable while resting. Furthermore, the Bard class can also restore health to themselves and other players using their music without resting.

Weapon Move sets
Each weapon has its own unique move set and range. Practice and memorize them to your advantage. Some weapons have 2 unique attack move sets, one with the left mouse click and another with the right mouse click.

The arming sword for example has a 3-motion attack sequence. Holding down the primary attack button will go through the attack sequentially until it is interrupted. If the enemy is wielding an arming sword, knowing this sequence can help you evade their attack.

<div style="display:flex; justify-content: space-evenly; flex-wrap:wrap; padding:2%;">

<div style="display= inline-block;"> </div>
<div style="display= inline-block;"> </div>
<div style="display= inline-block;"> </div>
</div>

Blocking/Parry System
Shields and some melee weapons have a block ability. However, simply holding block does not fully protect you from frontal attacks like in other games. To complete a successful block, you need to intercept their weapon or projectiles with your shield/weapon.

You also need to be careful to fully conceal your body parts, because even if you manage to block a hit, the weapon's hitbox can extend past your shield and hit you on uncovered body parts. Therefore, distance management is equally as important as blocking in the right direction. With this in mind, larger shields will offer a higher degree of protection due their their bigger sizes.

Currently, the only weapon that can execute a parry is the Longsword. If you successfully block an attack with the Longsword, you can quickly follow up with a higher damaging 2-sting riposte animation by clicking the Right mouse button.

Blocking and parrying requires a great amount of practice to pull of consistently, as you need to develop the spatial awareness around your shield/weapon as well as know your opponents weapon's move sets.

Check out Oggieson's Youtube Channel, he has made detailed videos showing how to block and parry with different weapons against most enemy types and weapons.

Impact Zones
Most melee weapons operate on a Impact Zones system, meaning hitting an enemy with the tip of the weapon will deal the most damage and hitting further down on the blade/haft will deal less damage. The number of Impact Zones vary between weapons.

Check out Weapons to see their Impact Zones damage modifiers or the individual weapons pages to see the visual representation of the Impact Zones on the weapon itself.

Body Part Damage Modifiers
Every attack, be it melee, ranged physical projectile or magic spell will scale with damage modifiers depending on the body part that was hit.

*Head hits deal 150% damage
*Torso hits deal 100% damage
*Limb hits deal 50% damage

This system affects player characters as well as AI monsters.

Utility Quick-Slots
Every character has access to two sets of utility quick-slots that can be accessed with the "3" and "4" key respectively. Each set houses 3 quick-slots. To scroll through your quick-slots, press "3" or "4" multiple times until you land on your desired item. Utility items such as potions with different rarities will occupy different slots. Furthermore, every item present in your quick-slots will show up on your belt. For more information on these items check Consumables and Utility. Be aware that potions will glow in the dark while equipped in your quick-slots, which can easily give away your position.

<div style="display:flex; justify-content: space-evenly; flex-wrap:wrap; padding:2%;">

<div style="display= inline-block;"> </div>
<div style="display= inline-block;"> </div>
</div>

Getting Prepared
You can enter a dungeon as a group with a maximum number of 3 members. When a match is found, you will be transferred to a lobby where you will wait for up to 3 minutes for the lobby to fill. Characters are immune to damage in this stage and can inspect other players inventories. It is important that you do not use up any of your important cooldowns here since they do not reset after you get teleported to the dungeon. Furthermore, do not drop your items or gear in the lobby, as other players can pick them up and if the match starts and your items are still on the ground, you will spawn in the dungeon without them.

Normal dungeons host Common and Elite grade monsters with an extremely low chance of spawning Nightmare monsters. They feature low drop rates for Epic items and extremely low drop rates for Legendary items. No chance for Unique items.

It is recommended to bring some Consumables or Utility to aid you in your adventure. Consider bringing a 3-stack of bandages or healing potions at the very least.

As of Alpha Playtest 3, gear pieces can now have base attribute points.

Consider buying cheap upgrades to your starter gear from the Merchants to boost your defenses and your attribute points. Starter gear is a tier below anything you can buy or find in the dungeon, so anything will be an upgrade.

A better weapon will enable you to dispatch monsters faster, this increased clear speed means you run less of a risk of taking damage and have more time for looting.

How to Resurrect
To resurrect an ally you will need to locate their Soul Heart which is located in their chest armor slot. To acquire their heart you will need to remove their chest armor piece. Equip their soul heart to you utility bar then proceed to look for an Altar of Sacrifice. After locating a Altar of Sacrifice, hold your team mates soul heart in your and press interact button. This initiate a channel action that will resurrect your team mate when the bar is full. Beware that cost of resurrecting your teammate is some health and they will be resurrected with minimal health unless you have a cleric that has Requiem perk. Being hit or moved will cancel this action.

High-Roller
You can enter a High-Roller dungeon as a group, with a maximum number of 3 members. High Roller dungeons have an entry fee of 50g per player. There will be no kill-feed or in-game timer, although you still have the progress bar that fills up red as time goes by, giving you a rough estimation of how much time is left. There are better drop rates for high quality gear. The only way to obtain unique grade items are from High-Roller dungeons. Monsters will appear at Elite and Nightmare grade.

Get Rich Or Die Trying
Once you escape with your treasures, you can head over to the Merchants to see how much you've earned. You can sell your items to the right merchant. However, if you do not survive and extract from the dungeon, you will not keep any of your loot including your armor, weapons, jewelery and utility items. Your inventory gets reset to the default class starter gear.

Dungeons
There are 2 different types of dungeons:
*Regular, can played with party of up to 3 players
*Solo, can be solo

Beside party sizes, the dungeons are also different.

There are 3 levels for regular dungeon:
*Unknown - Dungeon Basement level 1 (Difficulty Normal): This is currently in development and not available in the game.
*Crypt - Dungeon Basement level 2 (Difficulty Hard): This level is currently the starting level for the normal dungeon.
*Inferno - Dungeon Basement level 3 (Difficulty Hell): This level is only available through surviving and entering red portals.
*Ruins - Dungeon Basement level ? (Difficulty Normal): This level is currently the starting level for the normal dungeon.

High Roller Dungeon: These dungeons are higher difficulty versions of the regular dungeons and will have higher quality loot. Every single enemy will be elite or higher.

There is only 1 level for solo dungeon:
*Goblin Cave - This dungeon is solo only that has their own ores, bosses, and enemies.

You can navigate easier with the use of the wiki's map.

Crypt
The Crypt is normally going to be the second level of dungeon in the game. However, there is no level 1 at the moment.

Therefore, when you join the game, you start in this dungeon.

New ores spawn in the Crypt:

* Rubysilver Ore

<br>
New mini bosses spawn in the Crypt:
*Wraith
*Skeleton Champion

Ruins
Ruins is an experimental map that can be played with up to 3 players.

It has a similar difficulty to the Crypt, and will have up to 18 people per game.

Many new monsters spawn here, such as:
*Wisp
*Dire Wolf

And one new mini-boss:

* Giant Worm

To learn more about monsters, check Monsters

Inferno
Inferno is the most difficult dungeon in the game at the moment, featuring some dangerous monsters, mini-bosses and bosses that can't be found anywhere else. It can be reached by using the down portal from the Crypt Dungeon.

While it is the most difficult dungeon, it is also the smallest dungeon. The center piece room of this dungeon always houses one of the bosses.

There is no new ore to be found in this level, it contains Rubysilver Ore, same as the Crypt.

Many new monsters spawn here, such as:
*Demon Centaur
*Demon Dog
*Demon Bat

<br>
Also end game bosses:
*Lich
*Ghost King
*Skeleton Warlord
<br>

Goblin Cave
Goblin Cave is the only "Solo" dungeon in the game at the moment.

It has a similar difficulty to the Crypt, but can be more difficult to extract as there are only 4 escape portals for 11 people.

New ores spawn in the Crypt:

* Cobalt Ore

It also has Rubysilver Ore.

Many new monsters spawn here, such as:
*Goblin Warrior
*Goblin Archer
*Goblin Mage

<br>
and one Boss:
*Cave Troll
Traps
Watch your step, the dungeons are riddled with traps in order to protect it's valuable treasures. You will encounter 3 kinds of traps during your adventures, wall spikes, swinging axe traps and floor spike traps.
* Swinging Axe Traps does 25 HP Damage
* Wall Spikes Traps does 20 HP Damage
* Floor Spikes Traps does 20 HP Damage

<div style="display:flex; justify-content: space-evenly; flex-wrap:wrap; padding:2%;">

<div style="display= inline-block;">
<p style="text-align:center;">Swinging Axe Traps</p></div>
<div style="display= inline-block;">
<p style="text-align:center;">Wall Spikes Traps</p></div>
<div style="display= inline-block;">
<p style="text-align:center;">Floor Spikes Traps</p></div>
</div>

As opposed to it's dormant spiky brethren, axe traps are always active. Take your time to navigate through axe traps, if you are not in a hurry, it's better to wait for the right moment to traverse instead of risking to take avoidable damage.

Wall spike traps are difficult to detect, as only a small hole is visible on the wall. Some of them are depicted on the mini-map, but you will take some unavoidable deaths while you learn the locations of the hidden ones. They are positioned at head level and spring into action when something get's too close. Simply crouch down to avoid them. Some sneaky wall spike traps are at knee height, however, these are only found in the maze.

Floor spikes are usually easy to spot, they can sometimes be hidden in dak areas, but generally it's easy to navigate around them. Alternatively, you can throw a torch onto them to activate the mechanism and wait for the moment the spikes go back down. There is a brief recharge time after the spikes have fully retracted before they can spring out again, use this downtime to walk over them for a short distance and leap away to safety before the spikes come out again.

Use these traps to your advantage to eliminate monsters or unsuspecting players.

Portals
There are two different types of Portals in the game, one allowing you to escape and the other taking you down one level deeper.

Escape Portals will appear isolated and only allow a single person out of the dungeon, except in the Ruins map, where a cluster of three will spawn near the end of the game.

Down Portals will appear in a set three, allowing 3 players to descend together, each of these portals also only allows one player to escape at a time.
<div style="display:flex; justify-content: space-evenly; flex-wrap:wrap; padding:2%;">

<div style="display= inline-block;">
<p style="text-align:center;">Escape Portal</p></div>
<div style="display= inline-block;">
<p style="text-align:center;">Down Portal</p></div>
</div>

Escaping
Escaping is possible when a player activates a Escape Portal. The player then has the option to escape the map. These portals will appear at any level, decreasing in numbers as you dwell deeper. In Goblin Cave, there is Cave Extract which allows 1 person to escape.

When a player escapes they will keep everything in their inventory and additionally they will get Adventure Currency depending on how many Monsters they have killed and other factors. Also, you will keep 100% of the Experience Points that you have earned.

In the case you die, you will only get rewarded 50% of the Experience Points you have earned and will lose all Adventure Currency collected. Furthermore, you will lose every equipment including your tools and inventory. Currently there is no way to secure your loot.
Death Swarm
The dungeons below are protected by a powerful curse. The Death Swarm will try to consume your soul. Heed the mini-map and avoid its oppressive clutch.
The circle will slowly move closer towards the white circle indicated on the mini-map. If you are caught in the red zone you will slowly start taking 1/4/6/8 damage per second, each circle phase increases the damage. However, if you are in the last circle and cannot find a portal in time before the circle fully closes, then you will instantly die.
<div style="display:flex; justify-content: space-evenly; flex-wrap:wrap; padding:2%;">
<div style="display= inline-block;">

Check individual Dungeon page to see their death swarm timings.

Monsters
There is a vast variety of monsters you will encounter depending on the room you enter and map you get into.

The lower level the dungeon, the harder the monsters become and different types of monsters start to appear.

Monsters also have 3 different variants:
*Common
*Elite
*Nightmare

With each variety increase, the enemy gets stronger, tougher and faster, can use new moves.

Nightmare monsters have an extremely low spawn chance on normal difficulty dungeons.

Treasures
During your adventures you will come across a vast variety of treasures of varying sizes and value. These treasures can be sold to The Collector in exchange for gold coins. As of now, larger treasures take up a lot of inventory space, but have poor gold value per inventory slot. Try picking up single slot treasures if possible, since these occupy the least amount of inventory space and therefore have the highest gold value per inventory slot.

If you want to check out the individual values, you can check Treasures.

You can get more loot information in Lootables, Containers, and Monsters. Make sure to check their individual pages for their loot tables.

You can also find where an item drops in their own pages. For example, check Golden Key#Drop_Table to see where it drops.

Leaderboards
High Roller Dungeons are the only way to obtain a spot on the leaderboard. The leaderboards include:
*Veteran Adventurer: Adventure score is earned by killing enemy player and monsters, opening chests, acquiring new loot and going deeper to inferno. The player must successfully extract to secure the amassed adventure score from the raid.
*Treasure Collector: Top looting scores.
*Killer Outlaw: Amount of kills scored.
*Escape Artist: Times escaped.
*Lich Slayer: Amount of times Lich has been killed.
*GhostKing Slayer: Amount of times Ghost King has been killed.

* Rubysilver Ore

<br>

* Giant Worm

*Demon Dog
*Demon Bat

<br>
Also end game bosses:
*Lich
*Ghost King
*Skeleton Warlord
<br>

Goblin Cave
Goblin Cave is the only "Solo" dungeon in the game at the moment.

It has a similar difficulty to the Crypt, but can be more difficult to extract as there are only 4 escape portals for 11 people.

New ores spawn in the Crypt:

* Cobalt Ore

It also has Rubysilver Ore.

Many new monsters spawn here, such as:
*Goblin Warrior
*Goblin Archer
*Goblin Mage

<br>
and one Boss:
*Cave Troll
<br>

To learn more about monsters, check Monsters
